Tenet is a science-fiction action movie in which director Christopher Nolan has gone out of his way to confuse you. You thought Memento was confusing at first? Try Tenet.

Tenet is an organization who has recruited a CIA operative, known as The Protagonist (John David Washington, Devil in a Blue Dress) to assist them in assignment to prevent Russian oligarch, Andre Sator (actor-director Kenneth Branagh) from starting World War III. The problem is Sator can communicate with the future. The Protagonist must travel beyond real-time and use a concept called “time inversion” itself to save the Earth from Sator.

After watching Tenet, I tend to agree with those saying that the film does require at least two viewings to fully capture and appreciate all the happenings in the film. I am 100% sure after watching Tenet, some probably would not want to be bothered trying to make sense of it all. Of course, there is plenty of fantastic action sequences, with the cast traveling backwards and forwards in time with two of the same characters appearing, along with a few twists and turns. If you find the film somewhat confusing and scratching your head at times trying to understand the goings-on, you must be watching a Christopher Nolan film! Nolan has a flair for being a creative, crafty and innovative director, putting in what I would say is a herculean amount of time, effort and creativity into this picture.  As for the cast, in addition to its star John David Washington, which includes a strong cast with Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Debicki, Dimple Kapadia, iconic actor Michael Caine, and Kenneth Branagh, the performances are simply flawless.

Tenet receives a 4K UHD Blu-ray release from Warner Brothers. This is a 3-disc set, with a UHD disc, a Blu-ray disc features the films, plus another Blu-ray disc filled with bonus features. The product is in a dual-hubbed keep case with the UHD disc stacked on the extras disc.

As with a few of Nolan’s pictures he changes the aspect ratios on occasion. Whatever aspect ratio he uses this 2160p transfer spectacular and arguably one of the best overall 4K presentations out there, likely because Tenet is a newer film.  Image detail is outstanding from start to finish, with great depth and fine details to the characters and scenery. The black levels are deep with rich, bold colors. Definition in this HDR-10 presentation about as sharp as it gets!

This 4K release gets a robust DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio track which is quite powerful. The lossless track is nothing short of dynamic when listening dialog and especially during the vast amount of action sequences. The lack of Dolby Atmos does not seem to deter the listening experience.

Warner has provided some cool bonus content for this release.

“Looking at the World in A New Way” – this seventy-minute featurette has been divided into thirteen parts, in short, it’s an in-depth behind the scenes extra taking a closer look at Tenet with various members of the cast and crew. The thirteen parts come as follows:

1. The Principle of Belief

2. Mobilizing the Troupe

3. The Approach

4. The Proving Window

5. The Roadmap

6. Entropy in Action

7. Traversing the Globe

8. How Big a Plane?

9. The Dress Code

10. Constructing the Twilight World

11. The Final Battle

12. Cohesion

13. Doesn’t Us Being Here Now Mean It Never Happened?

The other extras include a theatrical teaser and three theatrical trailers.

Tenet is an amazing roller-coaster ride of a film that will woo some and confuse the hell out of others. The UHD release is outstanding with top of the line image and audio quality to go alongside some extras, making this a worthy package!
