Is It Wrong To Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon series 1 was a lot of fun, I love RPG’s both tabletop, and video game, so it hit my sweet spots all around. Season 2 felt rushed in both narrative and animated quality. I didn’t write the series off, but I felt like it might be connective tissue between series 1 and series 3. I was wrong, but that was my thought at the time. Series 3 continues down the path laid by series 1, but with more narrative depth.
This series begins with a Vouivre monster being stalked in the dungeon, and very scared. Right away, something feels different. Bell, saves, rather than kills her. Soon after members of the Hestia family catch up, and view her as a monster, until she speaks. At this point, it begins to change the dynamic, since the monsters in the dungeon were considered simple creatures, and now she proves that they can be evolved and sentient. The first half of the season involves stopping the danger to these sentient monsters, aka Xenos, and later helping them get home to the deepest depths of the dungeon.
Season 3 really worked hard to improve from the lackluster season 2. This series is really fantastic, and has me excited to check out Season 4 when that eventually comes out to Blu-ray. The animation here is top notch, and the central conflict really ups the depth on the show a significant amount. The action sequences are also quite excellent and add much back into the show.
Sentai Filmworks presents Is It Wrong to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon Series 3 in a very solid 1:78:1 1080p transfer with excellent color and detail. Audio is presented in English and Japanese MA tracks and sounds great. Extras include Clean Opening and Closing music videos, previews, 2 OVA’s and promos. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
