JFK Revisited: The Complete Collection, Through The Looking Glass and JFK: Destiny Betrayed receives a Blu-ray courtesy of Shout Factory. This is a four-disc set, with two Blu-rays and two DVDs in one larger sized Blu-ray case to fit them all. They aren’t stacked on top of each other, thankfully. I have looked at only the Blu-ray discs for this review. The newer material, interviews look quite good with clear flesh tones with great details shown in close-ups. The archival image quality ranges featuring a lot of different material in varying degrees of quality. Despite some of the flaws that the archival video tape footage has, it still looks as good as possible in high definition. Some of the source materials are certainly rough but has been given much care to make the viewing experience more than just passable.
This Blu-Ray set has two audio channels: English DTS-HD 5.1 and 2.0. Both tracks for this release are as perfect as it gets. Dialogue is crisp and clear without information being clipped by any background noises. Even audio from the older elements comes through nicely, given the age and the format. The score gives Stone’s film so added atmosphere. The audio is balanced perfectly throughout. There are optional English SDH subtitles included for this offering.
The Blu-ray has a few bonus materials, such as audio commentary with director Oliver Stone and writer James DiEugenio where they talk about how much they enjoyed putting this piece together, among other tidbits about their thoughts about JFK’s assassination. There is also a trailer for this release as well.
