Cyberpunk Red has been out for 3 years, and the book I’ve been waiting for has arrived (OK, well one of them haha). Tales of the Red – Street Stories is a compilation of 9 short modules for Cyberpunk Red. These for the most part can be run in 1-2 sessions each (the first one can easily be done in one, the rest might require 2 depending on your session length).

The layout of each module gives GM’s a read aloud section, background, the villains in the piece, location, and then the sections that constitute the actual module by location and also by objective, so one section might be for information gathering, or another might be a cliffhanger, or a climax. Depending on the style of the module there might be more than one cliffhanger, climax, etc. The end of the module contains stat blocks for the specific NPC’s used in it, and the back appendices contain more universal stat blocks for stuff like Boostergangers or turrets.

There is a nice variety of missions here. The first one in the book, sees the Edgerunners investigating a disappearance of a young woman around a vampyre opera, while others might see them plunge into the depths around Night City in a submarine, or even simply chase down a suit in the Smiths-referencing “Haven’t Got a Stitch To Wear”. For players that have run “Reaping the Reaper” out of the earlier released Datapack there is a sequel to that in here, and the whole thing ends with an amazing 2-part module with a fairly nasty villain that is sure to give your Edgerunners a bit of a time.

I am a big fan of Tales of the Red – Streets Stories, because I am new to the world of Cyberpunk and Cyberpunk Red, and I do not like writing my own modules for a world I haven’t gotten to explore from the writers perspective yet. I’ve played Red Chrome Cargo from the DLC, and Reaping the Reaper, but I wanted a few more official modules, before I fully took into Night City on my own, and this 9 mission book is giving me a broader view of the Cyberpunk universe, and is giving me a better view of how to structure my CP – Red stories, and for that alone I highly recommend it. However, the modules container in this book are fantastic, the layout is incredible, and the diversity means there is no chance for players or GM’s to get bored with the content.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
