After having the Cyberpunk Red – Core Rulebook in my possession since 2021, I have finally got a full campaign of the game going. In that time I have read the book cover to cover multiple times preparing for one-shots that never happened, and reading each book that R. Talsorian put out to review for this website, and inevitably use. As each one came out, I got super-excited, Tales of the Red – Street Stories offered a bunch of scenarios so I could figure out exactly how to play this edition of Cyberpunk as intended, and potentially sculpt them into a campaign (which I’m doing now). Black Chrome offers players and GM’s a ton of awesome gear to add to their games, however, when Danger Gal Dossier, got announced I was a bit confused, it was advertised as a book of NPC’s. I didn’t see the point, like, at all. Then it arrived in my mailbox, and like everything R. Talsorian has done for Red so far, I realized it fit in perfectly like a piece in the Cyberpunk puzzle.
Danger Gal Dossier is written from the perspective of a bunch of documents from the “Danger Gal” security firm of edgerunners located in Night City. It gives backgrounds on 15 factions of NPC’s including one just called “Edgerunners” which I guess just didn’t fit any other theme. These include the clown-themed Bozos, the rock stars “Digital Divas”, and the out of their mind Team Monster, who include a familiar looking Netrunner named “Cereal” among their ranks.
Each faction includes a break down of their faction history, which where they dwell, and what makes them unique for example “Sixth Street” are a loosely organized serious militia that wants to take the place of the NCPD, and are located in North Heywood. Beyond the history each of the factions comes with stat blocks for members of the factions to the hardened bosses in charge to lowly mooks. However, what I like most about these sections is the little bits of story seeds that can be discerned from the history and background information included. Between that and the statblocks, a resourceful GM could really put this book to good use creating quite a few scenarios for their campaign.
Beyond that the book includes a scenario called the incident which starts at the Edgerunner bar the “Forlorn Hope”, and takes the PC’s under Night City to investigate a break in at “Danger Gal”. There is also a collection of new gear found in various DLC’s, but not in the core book or “Black Chrome”, and finally a section on creating your own NPC’s. Like every other Cyberpunk Red release from R. Talsorian Danger Gal Dossier comes HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
