Tom and Jerry fans are probably the happiest cats in the world right now, as the Warner Archive Collection has gone to their cartoon library and released over twenty of their short films on Blu-ray discs in letterboxed format. Entitled Tom and Jerry: The Complete CinemaScope Collection this Blu-ray release has twenty-six Tom and Jerry classic cartoons from 1954 to 1958, during the Hanna-Barbera era. Twenty-three of them feature of course Tom and Jerry, but the last three animated features are a bonus treat with two Spike and Tyke cartoons and Good Will Toward Men, which was nominated for an Oscar!

The Warner Archive Collection has at long last released The Tom and Jerry Complete Cinemascope Collection on Blu-ray with beautiful, restored letterboxed 2K transfers on a single disc. The colors for all the shorts are much richer, cheerful and brighter in HD as they should be. Blues, reds, greens look incredibly vivid now! Fans will undoubtably enjoy watching these cartoon features not just in beautiful, letterboxed editions but they are now equipped with HD masters. Each short is consistent with stunning, beautiful image quality. None of them stood out as looking better than another. The bottom line is these all look gorgeous with very minimal issues, certainly nothing distracting.

The audio for the Blu-ray is English DTS HD Master Audio 2.0 and what there is of dialogue and other sound effects come in perfectly clear. The music comes in clear with none of the fidelity interfering with the other action noises like crashes, slams, and Tom screaming out loud in utter pain. The main sound effects are Tom crashing into various object in both inside and outside settings. There are very few minor audio issues, but nothing to clamor about in all honesty. I found the audio overall to be just fine and enjoyable. Optional English SDH subtitles are available for all the shorts.

The Blu-ray has no extras outside of the three extra animated shorts which are the two Spike and Tyke shorts and Good Will to Men.

When Warner Archive announces movies for Blu-ray release, they always go all-out to make their releases the best that they can be and this collection is no exception. I cannot recommend this release enough. There is no doubt collectors will simply love this set with hours of entertaining shorts with Tom and Jerry, Spike and Tyke and all the other characters that appear in these films!
