Can I just start and end this review by saying this film had a skull full of sex butter, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED?

I guess not.

Alright, so Satan’s Blood follows married couple Anna and Andy. Anna is 4 months pregnant, and the pair are quite bored. They get into their car and drive around trying to find something to do for the weekend, when all of a sudden another couple pulls up next to them at a traffic light, claiming to be former classmates of Andy’s. These 2 Bruno and Thelma invite Andy and Anna back to their home outside of Madrid. It seems to be uneventful at first, outside of some goofy bathtub sex. But then a ouija board gets pulled out, and things begin to take a few dark turns, and Anna and Andy decide to split, but are blocked by a storm raging outside. Forced to stay, Anna finds herself attacked in the kitchen by a stranger who disappears. Only then do the pair find themselves as part of a skull buttery Satanic orgy with the other couple, that leads to multiple murders and suicides (sometimes to the same people), and other bizarre occurrences.

I have never seen Satan’s Blood before this viewing, and am disappointed that I had not seen it sooner. This film is sheer brilliance. It was directed by Carlos Puerto, who sadly did not do much outside of this, but was produced by Pieces director J.P. Simon. This film is atmospheric, and bizarre, and has just one weird moment after another to keep viewers compelled one second to the next. This one is never boring.

Vinegar Syndrome gives Satan’s Blood its North American Blu-ray debut with a splendid 1080p AVC encoded transfer. This was scanned in 4k from the camera negative and just looks fantastic all the way through. Detail is excellent, colors pop, the whole image texture is quite filmlike. This is just a seriously fantastic all around image. Audio is in DTS-HD MA tracks in English and Spanish and sound quite solid. Extras include a 45 minute documentary on the film, an in-depth and informative commentary by Samm Deighan and Kat Ellinger, and a still gallery. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
