The Devil in Maddalena is a love story of about a woman who wants to give love to a priest who is battling to stay celibate.

Maddalena (Lisa Gastoni, Come Play with Me) is a woman who is desperate to find real love in a steady, secure relationship. Her husband (Ivo Garrani, Hercules, Waterloo) is unwilling to grant her a divorce, preventing her from seeking someone that she could love. In a flashback it appears that he dies in a car accident, so she doesn’t have to worry about a divorce now. During an erotic party there is a priest (Eric Woofe, Ivanhoe) that she becomes interested in. The priest is also going through some issues and is doubting his ability to cope with celibacy. She finds that to be attractive and decides to seduce him.

The Devil in Maddalena arrives on Blu-ray courtesy of One 7 Movies. The film has been given a 1080p transfer in its original aspect ratio of 1:85:1. This is a strong release with colors looking as sharp and balanced. Details to the outfits and scenery look terrific, especially in broad daylight. The evening scenes have deep blacks and rich shadow detail. Basically, the way this rare film looks is quite a revelation.

English DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 and Italian DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 are the audio options for this release. Optional English subtitles are not provided for the main feature. The music by Ennio Morricone is not as robust or aggressive as one would like. Dialogue and other sounds are on the subtle, flat side.
