99.9 Frequency of Terror is the third film that was directed by Agusti Vallaronga, where he explores psychic horror!

Lara (Maria Barronco, Tie Me Up! Tie me Down!) is the host of a radio call-in show that discusses psychic phenomena, discovers that her lover has been found dead in a small Spanish village. She learns that he was conducting secret experiments to connected tortured spirits that are trapped behind the energy of the living world. She goes to an abandoned house where those experiments took place and discovers that there was a lot of sinister happenings going on there.

99.9 is basically a supernatural murder mystery that has some good acting by the cast which includes Spanish film legend Terele Pávez. The excellent cinematography for the film was courtesy of Javier Aguirresarobe (The Others, Thor Ragnarok) and the creepy music by Javier Navarrete who handled the scores for a pair of Guillermo del Toro films, Pans Labyrinth and The Devil’s Backbone.

Cult Epics releases 99.9 on Blu-ray, giving it a new 2K transfer from an original 35mm print. The picture quality for the movie is outstanding with rich robust colors, inky black levels, excellent shadow detail. The film looks like it was made yesterday as opposed to 1997! Skin tones look accurate.

English DTS HD Master Audio 5.1 and English LPCM 2.0 are the audio options for this release. Now even though it says English, the dialogue in Spanish for both options and it sounds perfectly fine. Both options sounded alike to me after checking them both out. Music, screams, and dialogue are crisp and clear. Nothing came in overly aggressive. English subtitles are available for this release.

There are some extras for this release including a 2018 interview with director Agusti Villaronga, The Making of 99.9, and an isolated score by Javier Navarette. There are also some trailers of other films directed by Agusti Villaronga and a web exclusive bonus CD with soundtrack. There is also a DVD counterpart in this package.

99.9 Frequency of Terror is a fine horror film directed by Agusti Villaronga, particularly for those that are into the supernatural and psychic phenomena. The release by Cult Epics boasts excellent audio and video quality and some good extras to make this a recommended package!
