Earlier this month, Sentai Filmworks released upon the world the latest season of the light, quirky slice-of-life anime Is the Order a Rabbit? to blu-ray. How does this cute and silly workplace comedy stack up? Let’s dig in to find out!

If you’re just tuning in, BLOOM is the third season of the story of a group of friends who work at a rabbit-themed cafe. We have Cocoa, the bubbly out-going orange-haired one who comes to live at Rabbit House while going to school in the city and agrees to work there to pay for rent. We have Chino, the stolid, offbeat granddaughter of the original owner of Rabbit House who goes around with a talking rabbit on her head (that is most likely inhabited by the reincarnated spirit of her grandpappy) who comes to befriend Cocoa, forging a bond of friendship that carries through all the seasons. We also add Rize to the mix, the intense, weird one with military training for some reason who also forges a bond with the others over time.

In the third season, we have festivals, entrance exams, a masked bandit and magic tricks thrown into the mix. But at its core, this is a story like Non Non Biyori about a group of friends that just like to hang out and have fun together and the various activities they get into. This season has a little more emphasis than the prior two on the girls trying to come up with ways to drum up business at the cafe but in the end, it’s still largely plotless and more vignette-based. So far, we don’t have a fourth season yet, so for now, this acts as the series finale. While it doesn’t have quite a sense of finality to it that some anime do, it’s still a serviceable ending should the creators choose not to make any more.

On the technical front, like most of the more recent anime Sentai releases, the audio and video are both crisp and clear with nothing concerning about either one. The extras are also the usual cleaning OP and ED animations and not much else which in this case is really even more of a shame given that between the second and third seasons, this series actually had a 60-minute movie and an OVA released with fun side stories that would’ve made for really nice bonuses here. As of yet, they haven’t received any kind of release, and if they never do, that’ll be a shame.

Overall, if you enjoy your light, fun slice-of-life comedies that lean into the silliness on occasion, you should pull up a seat and treat yourself to this sugary confection.
