Iroduku – The World in Colors, I will be up front this series destroyed me by the end (no spoilers). The series has a simple premise. The year is 2078, and Hitomi lives in a magical world, but she can only experience it in monochrome. This dreary existence is bringing her down everyday. Hitomi’s grandmother Kohaku hatches a plan to send Hitomi 60 years back into the past to meet her teenage grandma and get a new view on the world.
I know this sounds convoluted and ridiculous, but it ends up AMAZING.
Hitomi ends up in 2018, and ends up in a world that is different from her own, and she begins to feel slowly different about her own life and place in the world. The series is an evolved emotional ride, and probably one of the best series I’ve watched this year. The animation from P.A. Works is startling, and some of the best use of color I’ve seen in forever. I’m going to keep this brief, but I’ll just put forth that this a must watch.
Sentai Filmworks presents Iroduku in a splendid 1:78:1 1080p AVC encoded transfer that really brings out the best in this series. Detail is excellent, colors pop. Audio for both Japanese and English audio come through crisp and clear. Extras include trailers, promos, and clean opening and closings. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
