The film known as Al Kameen in Arabic but for American audiences it’s known as The Ambush is a war-drama movie from 2021 directed by Pierre Morel, who was the man behind classics such as Taken and District 13. Marwan Abdulla Saleh, Khalifa Al Jassem and Omar Bin Haider are among the stars of the film, and if you’re unfamiliar with them, you aren’t alone, as neither am I!

The film’s plot is based on a true story when the Emirati was ambushed by Insurgents in 2018. This is the story of three Emirati soldiers who are on a mission and wind up getting ambushed in a hostile area loaded with rebels. The commander of the Emirati leads a mission to rescue his troops.

The Ambush offers nothing but action and war violence with subplots about the families of some of the Emirati that led to nowhere. The movie lacked substance and is strictly for those who love war films and guns and bombs going off for nearly two hours.

Well Go USA gives The Ambush a Blu-ray release. The picture quality is fantastic with a beautiful 1080p transfer. Of course, because it’s a newer film there is little chance that it wouldn’t look good in high definition. There is an abundance of gorgeous shots of the terrain and scenery that look spectacular under blue skies in broad daylight. To me the scenery steals the show in the image department with lots of detail and rich textures throughout. Overall, it is a bright, clean image throughout. Flesh tones also look perfect with lots of details to the actors’ faces in close-up shots.

There are four audio options, Arabic DTS HD Master Audio 5.1 and 2.0 to go with all-new English dubbed tracks, also with 5.1 and 2.0 channels. After toggling among the four options, they all have similar audio sounds. Dialogue is rich and clear, with gunshots, bombs exploding ad nauseum, and screaming officers that are hit by the bombs all sounding excellent and well-balanced

I would call this release for fans of war action films only as that’s all that the movie was, at least to me. The Blu-ray release is highly recommended because the audio and video quality is excellent!
