I’m not sure if 88 Films just got lucky or if this was planned, but between Super Cop and the In the Line of Duty Box Set, the company sure has a lot of Michelle Yeoh out in the year that the most well deserved actress has become an Oscar winner. Regardless of the reasoning, films like these are JUST awesome to have HD releases of, and I’m happy to have them on my shelf.

The series kicks off with a Cynthis Rockrock/Michelle Yeoh double hit with Yes Madam! This film sees a pair of thieves steal stuff from a dead Englishman (they didn’t know he was dead), who it turns out was about to turn over evidence about an epic crime-boss. Michelle Yeoh plays a Detective who most team up with Rockrock to track down the thieves and get back the evidence to take the crime boss down. The action in this one is AMAZING and the interplay between Rothrock and Yeoh make this one extremely memorable.

This one is followed up by Royal Warriors which sees Yeoh play a detective that is part of an airport security team which is on a plane that is hi-jacked. Yeoh, and two other cops manage to stop it from happening with badass action film style, but this puts targets on their backs. The three must band together to take down the criminals and terrorists once and for all. The one has solid action, and a real emotional core.

The third film sees Michelle Yeoh exist and get replaced by Cynthia Kahn who would continue the series from this point on (even further than this box goes). This film involves a series of Japanese Diamond heists, and it really goes over the top with action FROM THE START. I wasn’t overly familiar with this series (minus Yes Madam!) so I thought swapping out Michelle Yeoh wouldn’t be a great move. I was proven immediately wrong. Cynthia Kahn was fabulous and really had over the top action chops in this one.

The fourth brings Donnie Yen into the picture, which is ALWAYS a good thing. Cynthia Khan is back, and investigating a situation with the CIA, and a roll of film (kinda similar to the 2nd one…kinda). This one bounces back and forth with different agendas figuring out who is on what side, and is loaded with kick ass action (I bet you’re shocked at this point). The pairing of Kahn and Yen is stupendous, and they have great chemistry.

All four films are presented in their OAR in quality restorations. Everything looks natural and well-detailed, colors pop, flesh tones are accurate, black levels are deep. Audio tracks are varied with Cantonese audio tracks and classic English dubs all sounding great. Extras include multiple commentary tracks, an alternate version of IV, on camera interviews, trailers and an alternate version of Yes Madam, plus much more… HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
