I had zero idea what I was getting into with Sins of the Flesh when I put into my player, and the reason being is the first 5 minutes of the film tell a tale that can go either way. The opening of the film follows a group of women who are trying to have sex with various men they pick up in a cafe, and collect buttons from their pants to show as their “trophy”. One of these women, a young blond picks up Benoit Landrieux (Francis Lemonnier) ask him for a ride into the woods in his sports car. Turns out Benoit is impotent, she makes fun of him, and then proceeds to get left naked in the woods, while he speeds off.

We then follow Benoit (not the lady seductresses) to visit his Stepmother to get some money. She doesn’t have it, but gets naked and request a massage. Afterward he visits his Father, who owns a factory, and has apparently been supporting his son his entire life (and is not happy about it). He refuses, and Benoit leaves. That night Benoit finds a young man trying to steal his car, rather than do anything about it, he tosses the would be criminal, Jean-Pierre, his keys, and they drive off. In the process they see a young woman Isabelle (Anne Libert) being raped on the side on the road. They rescue her, and form a threesome with Benoit pretending to be Jean-Pierre’s servant. Early on they indulge in psychedelics and have voyeuristic sex, before things descent into blackmail and murder.

Sins of the Flesh is another wild French sex film. It’s not hardcore, but the sex really goes pretty far at times. That being said, this film has a ton going for it. Itr’s directed by Claude Mulot, who directed the fantsatic Blood Rose, who brings a stronge visual sensibility (most notably in the psychdelic sex scene that makes up the centerpiece of the film). The film has a good number of twist and turns that are sure to keep viewers in suspense, and everything really looks fantastic. Performances are similarly excellent from the 3 main cast.

Sins of the Flesh comes to Blu-ray from Mondo Macabro in an excellent 1:66:1 1080p AVC encoded transfer. Everything here looks natural and film like without much in the way of issues. Audio is presented in French and English DTS HD 2.0 tracks that sound quite solid and clear. Extras include interviews with Anne Libert, Gerard Kikoine, Francis Mischkind, Didier Phillippe-Gerard, and an original trailer. This is a fantastic release of a brilliant psychedelic crime film and comes HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
